This passion started in the 1960’s where our grandfather had up to 10,000 buckets to collect sap. This endeavor took a hiatus and returned in the late 1990’s as more of a family-oriented business with his sons and grandsons in the Catskill region. This family business came to be known as Wilbur Mountain Maple which continues to this day, carried on by his grandson Ben and wife Hannah in their newly built sap house in the Finger Lakes region.
Our mission is to supply our customers local and beyond with exceptional flavor and quality maple syrup and products. This is through the application of sustainable agriculture from forest management to boiling with a wood fired arch to maintain the rich original maple flavor.
Our team is made up of experienced and passionate individuals who share a common goal: to provide the highest quality maple syrup. Ben is the 4th generation maple producer in his family and gained his years of knowledge from many days and nights working with his grandfather. Even though skipping a generation, Hannah is the 3rd generation maple producer with her grandfather and great-grandfather gathering many of buckets in the day. Our team also consists of our families who have helped in almost every aspect of production and aspire to learn more. We cannot forget that teamwork makes the dream work, especially with furry friends like our Oliver.
Our products are available online, at our farm in Van Etten, NY, as well at some GrowNYS Greenmarket Farmers Markets found throughout New York City starting the week of September 2nd, 2024. You will find us under Finger Lakes Beekeeping's orange tent.
We love to hear from you about what you're cooking and how you're doing. Email or message us, and we will get back to you soon! Check us out on Facebook!
